70’s Refresher :: Tie-Neck Blouse & Lace-up Sandals

Happy Memorial weekend, dear friends!

Born in the 70’s China, I really didn’t live through the boho fashion era. When the 70’s trend came back in strong force this summer, I found myself loving the trend more than I anticipated, everything is brand new to me! 😉 Today’s look is, no surprise, 70’s inspired, or I should say, refreshed 70’s.70's mini skirt look big sleeve blouse

Tie-neck blouse with big puffy sleeves was pervasive back then (think about Charlie’s Angels) but the look now has deep plunging neckline. From personal experience, I figured there are two ways to make it work: 1) wear a cute lace bra top so it is okay to show some of it when you move; or 2) wear a plunge bra & tape part of the neckline to it, that was what I did. The tie neck itself provided some coverage, but as soon as I started to move, that coverage was no longer secure.dainty gold rings with pearlslace-up sandals back view

Gladiator or lac-up sandals are the new addition of this era, I guess. It goes well with almost any bottom that has some volume and enough ankle exposure. They are as comfortable as sneakers but more glamorous. I’ve included at the bottom of this post my top 10 gladiator sandal picks under $400 for this summer. Be sure to check out the retailer’s Memorial Day special if you decide to purchase this weekend.windblown hair by the sea round cross-body bag

When I reviewed pictures from this photo shoot, I felt the necklace might not be necessary. Had the blouse being a deep V neck instead of tie-neck, it might be a better distraction. gold lariat necklace
