Hello, my dear friends! It is Labor Day weekend in the States starting today, so cheers to you who celebrate this holiday! Besides the prevalent custom of BBQ parties, many retail stores and online shops also roll out special sales. It is a good time to get deeply discounted items from the past season (read return policy carefully though) or get some in-season styles without breaking the bank. My favorite sites for browse & shop this time of the year is J Crew and Banana Republic. With 30%-40% off new styles, prices are as good as first cut and I don’t have to wait until November to try out some new trends. Here are a few items from my shopping cart, time to get fall ready! 🙂
While we were in Barcelona, I signed up for a three-hour photography tour with a local photography studio. This is not a typical tourist tour where you would be shown photogenic sites and take your own photo, this one is you photographed by a professional at these photogenic sites. Hadn’t done anything like that before, it was a very refreshing experience for me, so sharing it with you is a must!
Starting from the studio that is located in center part of the historical district Barcelona,Yuri, our photographer / tour guide took us places we’d been but focused on details we didn’t pay attention to. Mixed with specific instructions on where to stand and how to pose, he also told us stories of these places, often very interesting and not seen typical guidebooks. I felt photo tour like this would be a good way to get to know a place while documenting the journey in an artistic way. Pictures speak a thousand words, here are a few from the session (we got close to 100 edited photos electronically a week after the tour).
A couple or family of 3-4 people get the best value out of this tour. Originally, I was going to do it alone and substitute it as one of my blog photo session, then I felt I should bring one of my kids alone to spend some quality time together. It turned out the right decision, the interaction between us and with Yuri made the whole journey super enjoyable. My boy is a very active one, three-hour long anything (okay, screen time excepted) would be a torture for us both. However, the tour and our guide was fun enough, he was a bit hyper but definitely not bored.
It is my knowledge that many major tourist cities have this kind of private photo tour. I found Yuri and his colleague through a simple search on Google and read great reviews on TripAdvisor before booking. Highly recommend, for it will become part of our travel tradition from now on. 😀
Thank you so much for reading! Wish you a great weekend ahead! See you in my next post!
