La Garçonne :: Patchwork Denim & Eyelet Bodysuit

Hello, my friends! How was your weekend? It felt like committing a crime to stay indoor this week because the weather has been absolutely gorgeous! I love when it is chill enough for layering but not too cold so I can skip jackets and coats, for as sartorially desirable as they are, I prefer lighter weight on my shoulders.5s6a6085-2

The other day, hubs and I went out for an afternoon stroll before school ends. The streets were quite empty and the sun couldn’t be more pleasant. I tried on this lattice bodysuit with under-layer of metallic mesh, it was just the right thickness for that sunny day. There was some breeze from time to time, an open-back button down shirt worn as a top coat not only make the bodysuit more appropriate for public appearance, it also helped to block the wind.5s6a6148 5s6a6132

Even though many times I dress in very feminine styles such as ruffles and floral, I have always been a big fan of the garçonne, or in more plain terms, boyish-girl, looks. The mix of masculine silhouette and feminine details are powerful and charming. When I saw this reclaimed denim with a large hot pink velvet patch, I knew it would be perfect for an off-duty, la garçonne look.5s6a6059

Picking up the feminine character of the hot pink patch, but not competing with it, are the purple metallic mesh layer of the top and the velvet Mary Jane pumps which I styled previous for a much more girly look. Velvet turned out to be my second biggest trend affection after floral this fall, so be alerted that you’d see quite a bit of them in the next few weeks. ^^
