Code Casual:: Vacay Outfits & Packing Strategies

Hello, hommies! Hope your week is off to a great start! We just got back from a short vacay @ Disney, tired bones and back to business.

Some of you heard enough about our love affair with Disney. Mickey is my friend, I admit, the lines proceeding each ride is not. Take notes, folks, lesson learned through sweat and blood — early birds get the Fast Passes!! The unfortunate thing is, there is no FP for character photo lines, which resulted in the little one and I waited seemingly a century long to meet Buzz and Andy. With kids crawling all over the floor and climbing up every structure, the line was excruciatingly long. The family in front of us was apparently stressed, I don’t blame them! Just before their turn was up, a staff member came in and announced the arrival of a “Make A Wish” child. I was expecting rolling eyes and grunting words, to my surprise, and shame on me, the couple was very positive. “Of course! Who doesn’t want to do something for a kid!” the dad said. A boy in wheelchair rolled in, spent close to five minutes chatting and high-fiving Buzz and Andy. What impressed me the most, was the couple kept on saying “how wonderful! how beautiful!” the entire time.

Back to travel and style. For short trips, I like to pack light, pick a color theme and select coordinating pieces. It usually cuts down the pieces I need to pack to half, i.e., two tops and two bottoms for a four-day trip. I’d pack at least two pairs of shoes for extended, comfortable walking and at most two handbags. Jewelry is what I tend to pack more of since they don’t take up much space but add a lot to an outfit. My color theme for this trip is yellow, so I brought with me mostly citrine and gold pieces.

love your casual look, the espadrille sandals is very familiar, I have them too :). I am going to Mexico in Jan, those silk printed pants will good for the weather over there. I am going to copy one of your looks but two size bigger, :).

Those shoes are made for walking, though sky-high! The more I wore them, the more comfortable they became. You will have a great time in Mexico with those shoes and pants! 🙂

Thanks! Another benefit of packing light, especially for overseas trips, is a perfect excuse to buy more clothes & shoes. 😀
