Hello, my friends! It seems that my love for culottes deepens with time as I find more ways to style them. In today’s outfit, I am experimenting with layers that have stiffer shapes, so when stacking up, they would form a tower / pagoda -like structure that is visually interesting and pleasant, or at least I hope so. ;D
In my last post about styling, I stressed that a good outfit would need harmony, as well as a bit of drama. In this case, harmony is accomplished through the play of shape: with the denim culottes being wide and loose fit, the whole outfit has three layers that steps to a tight-fit top and closed neckline.
Beside the contrast between two sides of the blouse, the open & close motion of the pleated side, supplies enough drama for the whole look. The rest of the outfit should be minimal, no loud pieces and overall color scheme is very neutral, to keep the structure of this look under lim light. My white Saint Laurent mini crossbody bag was chosen for the same reason. If a little plain crossbody was not an option, I would go with a minimalist tote or bucket bag like these by Mansur Gavriel or Bao Bao by Issey Miyake.
As much as I have embraced the minimalist styles and the norm-core movement, I couldn’t resist but always sprinkle on something girly and elegant, such as these piped boots and those chandelier earrings. You can totally replace the heels with flatform sneakers or oxfords (have worn here & here), even Birkenstocks, as long as the color and style is somewhat dormant.
Thank you so much for reading! Until my next post!
