Hello, my dear friends! Before we know it, summer is coming to an end and it is almost time to think about fall colors and textures. No, I am not taking out the leather jackets and sweaters yet, but on my mental mood board, I’ve pinned up dark neutrals and richer textures. In the coming few weeks, I think we will begin to see various shades of khaki, cream, denim, spice, and pops of sunflower and wine.
Today’s outfit is a baby step towards fall dressing, chambray set with a velvet flower belt. Chambray is light weight denim, ideal for the ~75F weather we are having. The belt is hero piece of this look for it adds not only a contrasting color, but the exaggerated flower makes the whole look more feminine and sophisticated, one could show up in a house party or cocktail hour in this look without feeling underdressed.
I chose to pair with these loose-fit pants because I am want a change from wearing dresses & skirts, but you can do this pairing with any kind of bottoms such as maxi skirt, palazzo pants, flare mini, culottes, even a pencil midi. The only type of bottoms I’d be careful with are shorts and skinny leggings. With a belt like this, some volume on the bottom help to balance the proportions and make the waist appear narrower. Shorts (unless they are flared) and leggings won’t provide enough volume.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you are inspired to try this combo. Say, you really not feeling denim + white for the Labor Day gathering, why not wear chambray with burgundy? See you in my next post!
