Global Tribal II :: Fringed Cape & Thigh-High Boots

Hello, dear friends! Taking a break from the future of fashion (aka, fashion week) and focus on what has been happening in front of our eyes for a sec. The global tribal trend, which I touched briefly last summer, is going nowhere and getting more blurred with other trends such as folkloric and boho. The cape featured in this post is a perfect example, boho shape with tribal print and strategic hoodie update, the whole piece is today and chic, instead of screaming “pair-with-a-sombrero”. 😀

When I bought this cape eight months ago (I know!) in Barcelona, I though the only way I could sport it with my relatively petite frame was to belt it and pair with skinny bottoms, as I did last week going up to the city, leather leggings and ankle boots. That was good for when the wind was gusting and snow flakes flying, we are looking forward to spring now, however, legging and boots might be a tad too warm for some.

A simple solution is to wear skirt and boots with it, one piece with OTK boots like I did today, or short pleated number with some biker boots would super cool and flirty. For a more work-appropriate look, straight leg pants, even some flare, would go well the cape proportion-wise, use block heels or platform loafers for both height and comfort. On the weekend, throw this cape over flared jeans and cotton turtleneck, all set from grocery shopping to birthday party hopping.ChloeCape (1 of 16) ChloeCape (3 of 16)ChloeCape (8 of 16)

The totem appliqués on these slouchy over-the-knee boots make them the perfect pair to wear with the cape, it also set the overall color tone to navy and black. When there are lots of patterns or design details, I prefer to keep the color scheme simple. By that token, I went with a black fringed bucket bag instead of a colored one, to keep the initial visual interest on the cape.

Toyed with the belt a bit and found out it was sturdy enough to function as a bag strap, some bejeweled tassels added to the bag, now it is a statement pieces on its own. ^^ChloeCape (12 of 16) ChloeCape (15 of 16)

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you’d want to try the global tribal trend(poncho, tunic, tassel bracelets, etc), or maybe entertain the idea of multitasking a statement piece you’ve already have. See you in my next post!
