Happy weekend, my friends! Less than a month before fall starts, I feel summer is going nowhere but here to stay, however. Our expedition through the Mediterranean sea and the famed cities in Italy and France could be summed up with one word: beautiful! Was totally swept off my feet by the beauties of historical architectures, art facts, natural landscape and local cultures. I am dreaming of a returning visit with more time to browse and soak in.
In the next few posts, I want to share with you outfits I wore during the trip. Whenever I pack for a long trip, I always try to do a mental run-down of how the outfits would look in those particular landscapes. Having high temperature, cobble stone streets and colorful walls in mind, I packed mostly one-piece outfits that require minimum care in vibrant colors, with mini cross-body bags and lace-up flats in nude and black.
Today’s outfit was what I wore on our day to Rome, it was the hottest day of our trip. This emerald parachute dress really helped to keep the heat level down. Synthetic fabric has the look and feel of chiffon sans the expense and care of a real one. Drop-waist style allowed lots of room for those delicious pizza and gelato we had, while on the move, the flouncy skirt and bubbly tassels enlightened my foot steps.
One of the most given advice we got before the trip was “wear your bags in front of you to prevent theft!” Rome is notorious for pick-pocketing, backpacks and wallets stowed in pockets on the back are main targets, though. My mini cross-body pouch (it is really not much bigger than a coin purse) held all the essentials (cards, coins, phone, small lip gloss) and it was always at the spot where I could comfortably rest a hand on or glance while engaged in activities.
Roads in the city of Rome, or most towns we visited, are not made with stiletto walking in mind. The gaps between cobble stones are large enough to catch any pin heel and random enough that they are impossible to avoid. Best kind of shoe to wear on these surfaces are flat bottom shoes or block heels (still require certain precaution). With my previous experience with these Valentino flats, they were my first choice of sandals to pack for this trip.
Thank you so much for reading! Wish you a great week ahead and see you in my next post!
