Bon jour, my friends! This is my last post of 2014, also the last installment of my Holiday Lookbook (quick links to look 1, look 2, and look 3). Just like other holidays, there are traditions come with New Year, such as champagne, count down party and maybe a ball? What I love(d), is watching the New Year’s concert by Vienna Philharmonic. It is my life time dream to be able to go to one of this concert. I signed up for tickets in 2002 and it is now 2015, I can say, 13 is not a charm. ;D
Look today is about double-duty everyday pieces for special occasions. The basic design and black color of the wrap sweater makes it very style-friendly for everyday (I’ve styled it four other ways here). The relatively shorter length and snug fit around the waist makes it evening-ready. All I did was add more glam (ball-length velvet skirt, crystal and pearls, metallic) while keep the color palette simple (black and white)
The skirt is worth a special mention because it was from my mother-in-law’s closet, and she in turn, got it at a vintage clothing show. I wonder if the piece is older than me? The crushed velvet material definitely have aged but not too frail. A skirt like this is worth investing, for it is truly timeless.
Wearing the wrap sweater without anything shirt or camisole leaves the neckline wide open and it is perfect for statement necklace. If I didn’t have this necklace, I would layer a few strands of big and small pearls and crystal necklaces (even metal ones if you want little more edge) together to make my own statement piece.
Thank you so much for reading! Until my next post!
