Hello, my dear friends! Are you having an eventful weekend? Our calendar for the next two days will be jam-packed so I am writing this in a huff. I did, however, marinated this post for a while, so I hope you will enjoy the read.
The color red is, THE color of happiness in many Asian cultures. I found it very comforting to see it being so prominent during holiday season here. It could be of the same reason that I don’t have many bright red clothing, too many memories of Chinese weddings. 😛 My preference is red in small doses — lips, nails, handbags, shoes or other accessories. For winter holiday, however, it is a different ball game. The flaming red warms up the cold & gray winter days perfectly, and no matter what type of dress you have on, a red number will sure make you stand out.
I always weight down my red look a little with black, in today’s outfit, black pump and black coat. With the wide gold cuff, and a pale gold clutch, I keep the earring very simple but a bit exaggerated. pearl drop earrings or crystal chandelier earrings would be good alternatives as well.
As long as it is a good red, I don’t think it really matter what kind of dress / suit it is. I picked a few examples that I think would be perfect for a red holiday look. The red suit and sleeveless dress can be repurposed for other everyday occasions. One note, for the red tux, wear it without anything underneath but a black lace bra, maybe tie a black velvet or grosgrain belt/sash around the waist if you want more definition in that area, would get you some extra eyeballs.
One thing I am still undecided, is the lip color. Should it be as red as the outfit, or lighter, or darker? What is your preferece?
Earlier this week, I’ve also published a style article on Social Shoppable on my go-to accessories this holiday season and beyond, check it out here.
Thank you so much for reading! Until my next post!
