Hello, my dear friends! “Seize the day!” a phrase we probably become indifferent to after seeing and hearing it so many times. The simplest and more apparent is sometimes the ultimate truth, however. As a stylist, blogger, but most importantly, a fashionista and a woman, it is something I go by when I get dressed everyday — seize the day!
Why wait for a wedding, a gala, a party or even date night to dress to impress, to feel special, do that every day! By that I don’t mean we should look loud and flamboyant, I mean a deliberate upgrade here and there in our outfits to make us, maybe just us, to feel special and more confident.
Today’s look is such an example. Boyfriend blazer, button down shirt, fitted pants (leggings you can call it) and ankle boots — how many of us see that ensemble as an everyday default? If the top is black, pants are denim and boots are black, you are probably talking about one out of five women you will see wearing. If we upgrade some of the key elements, then the whole look will be elevates and the wearer will stand out from the crowd. That is exactly what I did — I added a lot of sparkle, subtle ones, to this very common look.
First, I wore a velvet blazer in deep green, the sheen and luxurious texture of the velvet already make the look more sophisticated and expensive. Then I went with glittering leggings color-blocked with the same shade of green, now the look is coordinated but not overly casual because of the sparkle. In addition, I wore pinstriped blouse with large floral embroideries to keep pushing the boy-meets-girl appeal. Last but not least, I layered with a green/gold sparkly mesh sweater to amplify the shine ever so gently. Now the whole look is everything but ordinary even though it is still very practical and work-friendly.
Why the white booties? Why not? I found white boots brightens up an other-wise very dark winter outfit, they also work beautifully as part of a winter-white look. Because they are less expected for winter styles, the choice of white shoes will make your look more chic. If you don’t believe me, try switch your normal black footwear to something white or pale metallic and see for yourself. 😀
Thank you so much for reading! Let me know the tricks you do to elevate an everyday look in the comments below. See you in my next post!
