Hello, my friends! Another week gone by and anther weekend closer to summer! The big part of warm weather, to me, is being able to dress short and light, minimal layering and plenty of cute shoes! Although white is now an all-season color, spring/summer time is still its prime time, literary, you can wear it every day and no one is gonna raise an eyebrow. The trick to wearing white, or any monochrome looks during this time of the year is — shape.
Warm-weather dressing is not exactly layers friendly, and most of the time, we want to wear simple fabric such as cotton and silk to keep it breathable, so the best way to create visual interest is through colors, shape and/or accessories. In today’s case, I chose shape with shoes as my punch line.
My unyielding affection toward ruffles and flare is quite apparent, and one of my favorite ways to wear them is paring them up like today, and what I wore in Vegas. Big flare on small flare, the silhouette of this outfit mimics that of an open umbrella, or enoki mushroom if that is more relatable. ;D
The combination is flattering on most body types except the apple one, which might appear ever broader upper body with a voluminous top. For the apple-shaped ladies who love this kind of top, a way to balance is bigger bottoms like full skirt, wide leg long pants, and possibly harem pants. The last one might come as a surprise, I’ve seen similar pairing and it looked fantastic!
Another key aspect of this look is cropped pants, not only it helps to keep the body temp down, but also showing a bit of extra skin makes the legs appear longer, especially paired with nude pumps (I’ve got my dream pair on the shopping page). Because of this outfit is almost white except the red rose on the shoulder, I decided to pair with a statement mary jane with red/white stripes to highlight the red even more. The bag is a mix-match except the gold hardware. Exotic skin comes in small doses like this can be almost seen as neutral.
Thank you so much for reading! Let me know via comments what type of styling you’d like to see more! Until my next post!
