Hello, dear friend!s! First week in to December, and it still feels like fall! I am loving this mild weather we are having, simple layers and a jacket, couldn’t be easier. How about you?
When nature is treating us so kindly, why not take advantage? Today’s outfit is all about extending spring-summer wardrobe into fall by playing with layers and shades.
The lace top I am wearing has a peplum waist line and slightly extended split tail, which is very unique and sophisticated. If paired with other lace or silk bottoms, the whole outfit can be very feminine and romantic for summer. For colder months, a warm layer beneath the lace is necessary, this is where my favorite turtleneck sweater comes in. It is tissue thin but super sturdy and warm, perfect for layering. I bought both light gray and black and have been wearing them almost non-stop.
Considering the peplum of the top, I chose to pair with flare jeans to keep the whole look on the casual side. A light-weight, black fuzzy coat to “weight down” the light colors of the rest, and a pair of python-print boots just because.
Lace is one of my favorite textures, I love pairing it with textures of the opposite quality, such as with the tough and edgy leather, which is a very common way to work lace into an everyday outfit but also very predictable. In today’s outfit, my focus is on the contrast of the cooling visual of lace and the warming feeling of a fuzzy coat.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope this outfit would give you some ideas of layering and working with lace. Feel free to drop me a note below in the comments if you have any particular style or clothing that you’d like to experiment with, and we can work on it together! See you in my next post!
