Hello, my friends! How many of you consider Sunday the beginning of a week instead of end? For the kind of work I do, I’m a one-man shop and have super flexible schedule, in other words, everyone could be a holiday (and more likely, a workday). Even with that, I often find myself seeking inspiration on a Sunday, researching about trends and planning a week’s outfits.
As I was browsing through all the wonderful coats on Net A Porter this afternoon, it came to me at once that as many color variations as there are, we only need essentially one style to be up-to-date this winter — the men’s single lapel coat. The narrow lapel, and the slender fit makes this kind of coat a power player for that effortless yet super smart look we are after.
Since we are borrowing from the boys, why don’t we go a step further, they wouldn’t mind, would they? Plaid, or more precisely, its nobel cousin, glen check, adds sophistication and a sense of luxury. When combined, the plaid maxi coat is one handsome statement.
The glen check suit pants, structured handbag and fedora hat, are all complimentary to the coat. If I am tall, I would also wear oxford or flats to take this menswear inspired look all the way, but I am not ,so I paired with grey suede simple heels, and a very understated brooch for a little feminine touch.
If you plan to add a coat to your wardrobe this season, I’d recommend a menswear inspired style. This particular one is from Zara for less than $70. If you prefer a better quality one with similar look, this camel one by Joseph is a good investment one to enjoy for the years to come.
Thank you so much for reading! See you in my next post!
