Hello, my dear friends! On our way to British Columbia, so here is an outfit I last week to brunch, you can see what I’ve been up to and my daily outfits on my Instagram stories. It is a new feature Instagram added to compete with Snapchat, so far, I give it a thumbs up.
The core of this look is ruffles. Again? You might think. Yes, again. Ruffles and romanticism are here to stay for the next season, designers have played with this elements so many ways, even the minimalist might find it in their fall lineup.
The Australian brand Ellery was known for its exaggeration of feminine design elements such as flares and ruffles, they make the little girl styles big girl ready. The sleeves of the blouse I am wearing, are actually circular cuts of a piece of round fabric, when you lift the center up, the rest will just fall like a wind mobile. The genius of this blouse attracts me — the sleeves are statement-making and glamorous, while the cotton fabric and raw edge make it a lot more lay back that it would be otherwise. I had previously styled with raw hem denim for a casual look and with other structured pieces for more formal occasions.
When I ran into this pants with a side ruffle, I thought of the Ellery blouse immediately, a total match made in sartorial heaven, don’t you agree? A repeating element make an outfit look tighter, with both statement-making ruffles, this outfit is definitely not an everyday milk-run look but one will make you stand out at a party. For that reason, I put on my new party boots, a pair of pale gold booties that are quite minimal except the mirrored leather. Metallic shoes might sound intimidating but how I see it is that it is almost like a pair of white shoes, you style it the way you would with white shoes. The only thing to watch out for is when you mix metallic pieces, you will have to decide if there is too much bling in one look.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you’ve enjoyed the outfit and would like to ruffle up your wardrobe a bit. See you in my next post!
