Oversized Open-Back

Hello, my dear friends! If you were like me, tend to pack on a few pounds during winter, then oversized trend is right up the ally for winter styling. The biggest problem with oversized, however, is it could ‘swallow” the small-framed and make us appear even shorter. The key to rock an oversized look while not compromise the visual, is one word – pyramid.

By creating the silhouette of a pyramid, regular or upside down, with oversized component, we can accomplish visually taller and slender appearance. Last month, I styled with a pair of oversized pants, I went with the regular pyramid look. Today, I am wearing an oversized sweater, so I chose the reverse pyramid by keeping the lower body slim.

When style with bulky sweater dress, two things I noticed that would also help streamline the look: 1) keep coat length similar or longer than the sweater dress; and 2) wear over-the-knee boots so there is no gap between the hemline of the dress and the edge of the boots.

Showing skin, be it off-shoulder, one-shoulder or open back, is a big trend this season. It is not the most practical for real winter weather, but it shouldn’t stop us from enjoy these designs. A simple and stylish solution is layering with a bodysuit that has a different pattern, texture, and color. Better at keeping body heat, knit bodysuit is also great for layering without adding any bulk.

Thank you so much for reading! Keep warm and stay stylish! See you in my next post.
