Hello, my friends! It’s been a long week between the bad weather and doctor’s appointments, so I am ready to chill and of course, do what I meant to do yesterday, writing this post. 🙂
Last winter, I was invited to the grand opening of the Atlantic Plumbing building, a residential and commercial building at the heart of the reinvented neighborhood of Shaw DC. The event was held at the rooftop of the building but it was tented, so I couldn’t quite see the view but I left with an impression of a great view. When I received this shirt dress, I immediately thought of the rooftop of Atlantic Plumbing, what could be a more perfect place to wear this dress than the pool side on a roof top with a striking view of one of the greatest cities in the US? When we got to the rooftop again this time, the view did not disappoint despite the weather. I can only image how pretty it would be when the lights go on, or on a clearer day, you can look out and see the Capitol!
Each floor has the same abstract art scrolls painted on the wall but with different color backgrounds. The top floor is a close shade of pink to that of the stripes of my dress. As my photographer and I was leaving, we saw this work ladder right there by the end of the hall way, we couldn’t help but snap a few shots and got a great laugh about it. 😀
What you don’t see in this post, but a following one we shoot at the same location, are the glass penthouse with bar, pool table, fitness room and plenty of lounging. If I were to be single or married without children, I’d love to live in this building and hold pool parties all summer long!. Better yet, I need to befriend someone who lives here so I can come and hang out all the time. 😀
The dress is named “Inside Out” because, as you can see, a strappy bra is sewed on the outside of the dress, with a largely open back. The cutout in the back shaped like an upside down triangle, which gives the illustration of a wider shoulder and smaller waist, genius!
Another design genius of this dress is the choice of fabric — pinstripe seersucker. Combined with good ventilation both side and back, even with the mandarin collar and long sleeves, this dress does not get overheated, and perfect all spring / summer long.
Beside glam it up with high heels and a studded clutch for a posh party, I would also wear this dress with white canvas sneakers or leather slippers, and a boater hat, wanderlusting in different places of the world, from San Palo to Marrakesh, Even when I am not able to travel to exotic places psychically, this dress will take me there emotionally because how relaxed and glamorous it makes me feel at the same time!
Thank you so much for reading! What is your ultimate way to chillax? Let me know in the comments below. See you in my next post!
