Hello, dear friends! Back from Dallas, what a whirlwind weekend! I will share more details and outfits with you once I have the pictures ready. For the time being, let’s talk about styling options!
When it comes to outfits, who doesn’t like options? Option doesn’t mean more new purchase, it just means more ways to use the same key piece. Today, I’ve style a simple cotton knit top for three different occasions: office casual, girls-night-out and weekend.
This knit top I bought from Zara is simple (plain, no pattern) but the asymmetrical hemline and expose seam keep it interesting. Because of the material, I consider it more off-duty than on-duty. For an office-appropriate look, some formality is needed and that is exactly what I did: paired with a flouncy tweed skirt and t-strap pumps that picked up a secondary color of the skirt.
Since the top is borderline cropped, belly would be shown with movements and that is not ideal for office wear. I then added a wide belt to “cover” and define the waist. A little side note: small accessories such as belts and brooches are worth collecting because they often add nice touches to a look without breaking the bank.
Girls Night Out
GNO is usually an occasion we can feel more relaxed and experimental with styles, so for the look, I picked a pair of skirted black pants I have since last spring. Studded pump adds edge and rolled up hem helps to show case the pumps.
A simple pouch is a good alternative to wallets and clutches for a night-out look, it holds all the essentials without looking too bulky. There are so many inexpensive options available in this category, definitely a good element with which one can experiment and have fun!
Moms are busier over the weekend! Extra-curriculum activities, birthday parties, Sunday school…there is no better outfit than the one that is agile and comfortable. It doesn’t have to be all sweats, I mean, throw on a pair of leather short and espadrilles and you are one comfy & chic mama! 🙂
For all three outfits, the common theme is the off-white knit top, which can be any simple top of a neutral color. Use your accessories strategically can make the same top transition seamlessly from one look to a completely different other.
Thank you so much for reading! I really hope you will be inspired to experiment with a staple piece you’ve already got and try to come up with different looks. Please feel free to drop me a line in the comments section below sharing your experience and / or asking questions. See you in my next post!
