Trend Alert: Golden Pleats

Hello, my dear friends! Although we have been enjoying a mild winter here in the nation’s capital, I am impatiently waiting for spring to begin. The endless furry coats, sweaters and jackets on Instagram have taken their toll on me, even though I haven’t been wearing them much this season. ;D So when the final round of sale began, and the first batch of spring fashion arrives, I am either buying pieces that are truly timeless, or find seasonal pieces that will be on point for the next couple of years. Today’s outfit is a perfect mix of these two kind of designs: biker jacket and pleated pants.

A biker jacket is a wardrobe staple, it is edge but still classy enough to suit everyone and pairs well with everything. I found the best kind to invest in is the one of simple and classic design (no bells and whistles), made of good (soft and heavy) leather and quality hardware. I have three leather biker jackets, black, red and green. I found the black one (although the least expensive among the three), is the one gets the most frequent wear. I have a silver-gray suede one for warmer weather, and considering a white leather one for spring as well.

The other half of today’s look is pleated maxi wide-leg pants. Both pleats and wide-leg pants are lasting trends for the past few seasons and I think they will be around for a couple more. The sunny yellow color is one of the Pantone colors for spring 2017, a sure mood-lifter on gloomy days. If you are not a neon person, or a red/pink/burgundy person, yellow is a good alternative warming color.

Overall, today outfit might appear casual because of the biker jacket and the ballet flats, the pants, however, is totally office-friendly if paired with a proper top and footwear. For example, with the wrap shirt I wore, all I need is changing the flats to booties for this look to be 9 – 5 ready.

Thank you so much for reading! See you in my next post!
