Hello, my dear friends, how was your weekend? I spent a big chunk of mine re-living a staycation I did last weekend with my girlfriends at the newly-renovated Melrose Georgetown Hotel’s presidential suite. It was such a wonderful experience, my girls and I decided going forward, we would do this kind of girls-night-in more often and we’d call it the “Melrose Treatment”.
Melrose Georgetown Hotel located just minutes away from the heart of Georgetown, and a short walk from the Foggy Bottom metro station. Some of us arrived by metro, I chose to drive and parked my car at the hotel overnight. The valet gentlemen were very courteous, they helped me with my luggage and offered me refreshments while I was waiting for the car. On a very rainy day like the one I check it, it was very helpful.
Unlike some chain hotels, Melrose Georgetown has a very stylish lobby, with the front desk further inward instead of right in front. The bar and business center are very open and welcoming, black and dark gray themed decor gives that sophisticated, high-end, boutique-like feel. You can get a quick glance from this short video I took (my apologies in advance for the low image quality of a cell phone camera):
The Presidential Suite is located on the 8th floor, it is fairly high in DC standards considering all buildings required to be shorter than the Capitol. We were blown away by how spacious and well-decorated the whole suite is. It is practically the size of a luxurious apartment. The flow of the space is also very guest-friendly, with living space cleverly separated from sleeping and personal quarters. Even though there is only one bed in this suite, there are three large-size sofas that are just as comfortable as any bed. I actually passed out on the sofa in the bedroom at the end of the night, it was too comfortable. 😀 There is also a connecting room to the suite that is accessible via the closet, it was occupied on the night of our stay so we didn’t get to check it out.
To make this staycation more fun, we ordered in-room services. The snacks and refreshments came in a gleaming bar cart with beautiful presentations and a welcome note from the hotel manager. We felt pampered and very delighted, I mean, which girl doesn’t love macarons and fruit and pretty flowers?
After dining out the night before and conversations way passed the wee hours, the girls decided to have breakfast in suite. We ordered from the breakfast slip in the room, which is a full menu with lots of healthy choices than most hotels’ offering. Some of us wanted certain items seen on the hotel restaurant menu, the kitchen was so accommodating, they made it happen for us. 🙂 Food were delivered promptly in covered platters, I’d say it took me longer to arrange them on the marble dining table and take these photos than it took to order and get them delivered to our room. ;D
Something special about the Presidential Suite at the Melrose Georgetown, is this beautiful, well-furnished private outdoor patio. Too bad the weather was not cooperating during our stay, we’d rather have our breakfast outside if it wasn’t raining. I’d image how nice this space would be for a private gathering or dinner under the stars.
Thank you so much for reading! If you will be visiting DC and would need to stay in a hotel, I’d recommend checking out Melrose. It was a great experience for us that we’d like to repeat this “treatment” again for our future girls staycation.
