Style of Love :: Winter Lace & NYFW Aftermath

Hello, everyone! Happy Valentine’s Day, and Happy Lantern Festival! Today is special on many occasions, for the westerners, it is the day to celebrate love; for people in the orient, it is Lantern Festival and the last day of Lunar New Year celebration; and for folks on the East Coast, over 12 inches of snow just made everything extra romantic, hehe.

I am into pink these days, not just for V-Day, so it was natural that I picked a pink top to be my NYFW debut look. It could be the timing also, when we got to Lincoln Center, herds of street style photographers came up to me wanting to take pictures. They loved my shoes, my bag, my pants, my necklace, my sunglasses, but NOT my pink top! Anywho, pink was big in NYFW this year, you can see for yourself in these street styles. Had I worn a pink shearling coat like this one, you probably will see me on WhoWhatWear now. ;D

The whole experience of being photographed in the plaza of Lincoln Center is surreal — all those cameras, all the attention, and all the big smiles you put on. I felt more glamorous than ever! I guess that is how celebrities feel all the time with permanent shutter flies following them. But when the brief glory was over, everyone turned to the next IT person, where did I go? who am I?

At the end of each fashion show, the designer will step out and thank the audience while the audience applaud loudly. Most likely, he or she would be alone. At the Milly show, Michelle came out with her young daughter in her arms, then she reached for her even younger son in the audience, people cheered and celebrated this Kodak moment. For show or not, I think she gave us the answer right there: when lights are out and all the prettiness fades,  what matters the most is the people who loves you with makeup on or not. After a whole 48-hour energy-infused adventure at NYFW, I returned home an exhausted Jane Doe late at night. Flying to the door were my boys, hugs and kisses, telling me they missed me and they love me…that, my friend, was the best attention I ever had!

Thank you! Being photographed by so many people is certainly something I don’t do every day, but I do enjoy being with my family every single day. 🙂

Thank you, Laura! That necklace is a style transformer, it creates instant focal point to an otherwise plain outfit. I’ve been using it with clothes from all seasons.

You look a bit like JingLei Xu in the first picture but with much much more style. I love this outfit. It totally stood out in the ocean of fashionistas. You looked smart and refreshing.

Thank you, Tina! Sometimes I got comments of me have some resemblance of Xu Jinglei, I take that as a compliment, I guess. 😀
