Hello, my dear friends! As we step into September, our fashion antenna is auto-tuned to fall. Jackets, sweaters, boots start to sprout all over the blog sphere, make you wonder why it is still 85F outside?! The evenings are getting cool, for sure, a long sleeve or a light layer is definitely appreciated but we can still enjoy the pleasant feeling of silk brushing our skin.
Today’s look is one of my go-to styles for transitional weather — light layer upon light layer. The denim jacket is a girlfriend style, which is slightly oversized than standard size but slender than the boyfriend styles. Fabric and wash is also on the lighter side, a perfect one to have all year round, a coat now and a top (between sweater and coat layering) later.
A little fall trend-sporting here also. Although I’m still pretty convinced that I’ve called the major fall trends, floral slipped through completely. Until this season, I’ve been staying away from small floral prints and velvet because they can easily be taken as provincial or old age. This season, however, designers have darken the prints (literally) and deconstructed the styles, or mix in trendy elements (like the one I am wearing) so they are no longer visions of the past but more of a modern vintage feel.
On that modern vintage note, in line with daytime glamour as well, is the it-shoe of the season, velvet heels. Glam like the metallic, easier than suede, velvet shoes will take over street style this fall. If you are a boot person, you can get good options here, or if you are a stiletto person, I’d recommend some block heel with straps. How/when to wear them, sprinkle the magic denim dust and serve up in the morning with the rest of your breakfast.
Thank you so much for reading! See you in my next post!
