Hello, my dear friends! Although New York fashion week just ended, the fashion talks continues on the blog! This time around, I was lucky enough to get into the Zimmermann show and even scored a second-row seat, breathing in all the fragrances some of the world’s top bloggers use, so I thought I should note the moment and review this label and its newest collection. ;D
Zimmermann SS16 Top Picks
Founded in 1991, Zimmermann is not exactly a young label but it only made it to the Northern Hemisphere fashion scene in recent years and began to gain traction among the fashion elite in the past two years. To describe a Zimmermann girl, I want to say she is a girly girl who sports a sunny friendly smile and a being good flirt without trying too hard.
Zimmermann’s SS15 collection was a hit with fairytale like floral dresses, FW15 is even better with more fairytale maxi dresses but also flowy long pants, now SS16 just revealed itself, it took the fairytale dressing even more literall – the Zimmermann girls looked just like characters of Little Women only with much shorter skirts. I could hear the “OMG”, “Totally love it”, “So wearing this one” monologues went on in the heads of front-row bloggers as they raised their cell phones snapping the whole way, because I was doing the sam! 😀 The only difference is, I am a few years older, so I put my bet down on the designs that could blend in well with a more mature wardrobe yet still stand out. Without further a due, here are my picks:
As you can tell, I am more drawn to the lattice neckline / shoulder line than high neck because I think Zimmermann has something original and well-excuted here. I am SO getting those leather accessories, shoes and the hair, Alaia, anyone?
More Good Fashion From Down Under
About three seasons ago, I began to notice these geometrical yet super romantic and often fun designs I loved were all by Australian designers. My love for lace and ruffles are greatly satisfied and some more. Quality of the garments I bought are superior, and prices are un-comparablly low. My current favorite Aussie labels are: Ellery, Lover, Maticevski and Zimmermann.
Here is a gallery of a few current season styles for the aforementioned labels, unfortunately, a lot of amazing designs are not averrable via online retail in North America. I’ve purchased directly from some label’s e-shop, so you might want to check them out also for current season styles as well as sales. If you like bold prints with flirty cut and budget-friendly prices, you might want to check out Finder Keepers, Cameo the Label, Alice McCall (next season pre-order).
Day 2 Outfit
Since my entrance to the Zimmermann show was pure luck, I didn’t prepare for it but I had on a Victorian-inspired lace blouse by Lover and this awesome denim coat with lace appliqués from a New York based desiger Yuna Yang. In a strange way, I felt right at home watching those ruffled high necks and flouncy skirts coming down the runway.
My fashion six sense, developed upon watching many street styles during fashion week, is whispering to me: denim and lace, mix them, and mix more! Get your jeans out, people, glamorize with fancy top and some cool accessories, that is how we gonna roll for this season and next.
Thank you so much for reading! See you in my next post!
