Game Changer

Hello, my dear friends! How was your weekend? We are still in weekend mood due to Labor Day weekend but the weather took another nose dive into the 60’s! I am still hopefully that temperature will rise back up a bit, for I am not ready to say good-bye to all my summer frocks. ^^ Today, I am going to talk about one style “game changer” in women’s fashion and how we can utilize it for our transitional outfits.

From the first image of this post, you might have guessed, the game changer is showing your lace undies, mostly, a peek of your lace top. It has becoming the go-to move  for IT girls to show a sliver of their lace bra/cami underneath their t-shirt/sweater/shirt/blazer, even sweatshirt. You heard me right, the creative directions of today’s designs, back-less, cut outs, ultra deep v necklines and the like, have “forced” women in showing more skin than they are used and probably feel comfortable to. What would be happy sartorial middle ground if you want to look both fashionable and classy? The answer is cover up with pretty lace.

The intimate wear industry catches up fast, of course. There are all sorts of lace you can get these days, my latest discovery is the b.tempt’d line by Wacoal. Designs in this line are made of lycra lace that has a good stretch, smooth and delicate patterned, the qualities you expect from good intimate wear without the hefty price tags. The two styles I have on in this post, one has front closure & race back design, the other has a wider panel, side closure and detachable straps, both stayed on well and very easy to put on.

With the race-back sporty one, I styled it underneath my open-back striped top. Not only the lace panel is very pleasant on the eye, it make me worry free of the worry free of the top got blown by wind and showing a side boob here and there. 😀 I was able to pair with more casual and sporty pieces like the coated skirt and sneakers for a busy day running around.
The second look is with the bralette with detachable straps. I like the very flattering cup shade as well as the pretty lace pattern, it would be subtle and sophisticated touch to wear it under a deep v necklace that goes all the way to the belly button. 🙂 This linen dress was sweet during hot days on the beach, but now temps are dropping and we are back to the city, the added lace touch provides both some coverage and additional warmth (girls you know what I am talking about).

As I’ve mentioned at the beginning of this post, the lace “game changer” we can fully utilize to extend the wear of our summer looks. Not just lace underies, but lace camisoles, lace bodysuits, anything really to add an additional layer without give the look and feel of too warm.

A few more style tips I have for the transitioning from summer to fall:

1. Use cold weather colors but warm weather texture, such as this navy linen (of my second dress), or dark blue wicker (on my bag);

2. Close toe shoes but keep the color light. When you move from open-toe sandals to close-toe pumps, you know it is getting cold. You can still keep that summer feel going by wearing lighter neutral color ones such has white, ivory, beige and silver-gray.

3. Switch to a cold-weather hat. Straw hat screams summer, even if you can wear the same dress, it is time to put away straw hat and wear a fabric hat, even leather one. My current favorite is this black leather beret, it doesn’t make the head feeling heated like the wool fedoras, more fashion than function kind of piece, perfect from now to next spring. 😀

4. Use fall-friendly accessories, such as leather handbags, or darker-color straw bags, silk scarves, etc. They help set the tone for cold weather looks without actually changing the body temperature.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you will find the style tips above useful. I’d be more than happy to answer any style questions you might have. See you in my next post!
