Velvet Leopard

Hello, my dear friends! Hope your week has been progressing well! As the temperature continue to drop, the desire for warmer layer continue to heat up. Your social media feed is probably just like mine, crowded with chunky knits and faux fur coats, as much as they provide cozy visual for the eye, we know it is impractical to dress like during the week especially if you have an office job. What is the alternative that will be both warm, stylish and work-friendly? The answer is, big “surprise”, ha, blazer!

Blazer is having a big come back this season. We are not talking about those fine Italian wool suit blazers in solid colors, however, we are talking about the ones with pattern and texture, such as plaid, checks, houndstooth, tweed, velvet, etc. The major trend updates in sporting a blazer this fall/winter are: 1) go with a pattern; 2) go oversized; and 3) go with a set. If you are on the petite side of the spectrum like me, I’d recommend a more sleek set with cropped pants.

Paired with the trending sock boots, cropped pants can make our legs appear even longer, especially when the top and the bottom have the same print. A simple and slim-fit blazer can also provide a similar visual effect, not to mention it is perfect for layering with coats of all sorts. Texture-wise, I love velvet because it is luxurious to touch and see while not as stiff as their woolen friends. They can be easterly styled for casual looks, too.

Today’s suit is in leopard print, which could be considered “a little cougar” for many, but I think the print itself is almost neutral, the key is the design, whether it is sexy or more androgynous . Also, to “tame the animal” a bit, I paired with all white accessories as well as a white blouse with big ruffles to make the whole look more cute than wild.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this look and find the tips useful. Please ask any question you might have in the comment. See you in my next post!
