Let It Shine

Let It Shine

Hello, my dear friends! I’ve been avoiding trend predictions for next spring because I have yet to catch up on all the shows. However, from what I’ve seen on the streets, of various show-goers and some from the runways, that without a doubt, ’tis the season to shine, meaning, have some sparkle in your outfit beside jewelry.

The most common ways to add shine this season is metallic silver, vinyl clothing, embellished shoes and bags, or something a little subtler like velvet and shimmering knits. One of the most anticipated and wildly popular among fashion month street styles, are the glitter boots.  They might be jumping out at you at first sight, but after a while, they are just like other metallic footwear and could be styled as such.

My favorite way of styling with anything glitter is paring with the opposite. The more feminine the piece, the more masculine counter parts needed. In the case of these boots, the shape are pretty masculine despite all the glitter, so I feel confident pairing them with a structured coat dress and some even more structured houndstooth bolero in feminine pink. If pink on pink is too much, I’d also pair them with dark colors, and/or fabric with texture such as tweed, boiled wool, faux fur, cashmere, etc. The only thing I might not want to pair with could be vinyl and coated denim because the competing shine will make the whole look a little cheesy.

There are quite a few glitter boots available on the market now, ranging from the ultimate Saint Laurent crystal-encrusted pair to the affordable & durable Weitzman, and the super budget-friendly Guess pair under $100. Even though they are all shinny, the colors also vary from black shimmer to nearly white bright. I’ve picked a few of them here, hope you’d find one you like and give them a spin.
