Spring Summer 2022 Fashion Trend Predictions

Hello, my dear friends! When I wrote the title of this post, I was a bit amazed myself because we just had our second big snow this month, it feels like winter has just begun, now we are talking about spring trends? That, my friend, is how the top fashion insiders play. When we are still trying to find that dream teddy bear coat at 70% off, the style mavens already begin to gather pieces for their spring wardrobe, so they won’t miss an IT item when it becomes too hot to get. Today, we are going to try that mind set, looking into the “crystal ball” and see how we can prepare for the super fun SS2022 season ahead.

At the beginning of the month, I did a bit of research on runway trends. Here are a few that really resonated with me. Even as a professional stylist, I won’t personally buy into all these trends, some I will embrace fully, some I will adopt and some I will just have to pass because they don’t fit my personality and lifestyle. It’s important going into any new season planning with a good knowledge of what works the best with your personal style, and what will compliment your current wardrobe. Without further adieu, here are the top 12 Spring Summer 2022 fashion trends as predicted by various fashion publications:

1, 2, 6, 7, 10, I am definitely on board with those, in fact, I have been investing in them for the past seasons, you probably have seen plenty of the colorful and tonal outfits I put up here. 3 is no brainer, Very Peri (light purple) is a beautiful color, I think I will continue to collect a few accessories in that color family. 9 is super hot now, every other image that comes across my desk has something shining in it, shoes, bags, clothing. It was the holidays, I understand, but I think we could give the glitters a break, maybe something metallic, like mirror silver and gold, for a change? TBH, I am not getting excited about Regency Core at all, it is definitely a sweet and romantic one but we've been playing nice for a few years now, time for a little more spice and energy! Now we have 4, 5, 11 and 12 left, trends that will let it all hang out & scream ‘Look how sexy I am. To fully adopt these trends, we will need flat abs, slim tights and firm bobs. No sweat though, if you are like me, don’t have all three, we can strategically mix in these trends and still look totally on point. For example, with today’s outfit, I have combined a high-waisted mini skirt with an oversized blazer, so I don’t look like a mid-aged lady trying too hard to look 18. Tall boots also modernize a look and break the stereotype of miniskirt + stilettos.

One great resource for trend prediction is to see what fashion items your favorite fashion retails sites have on pre-order, their buyers are usually very educated about the next color and style trends. Before the new season style drops, I usually check a handful of my favorite online retails and start to save what catches my eyes to my wishlist.
